Welcome to the Good Access Guide Newsletter for May 2010

I always seem to start with the same old excuse…

"Sorry it's been such a long time since the last newsletter but [add latest excuse here]"

Well this time it's with very good reason... Our small but dedicated team have been working their socks off not just with the Good Access Guide but also a new and exciting project - more about that in a minute.

Wendy and Jo from our Lowestoft team

Firstly I'd like to tell you the news from Good Access Guide.

Even with the worst economic climate for years we have been able to attract new advertisers to the website, especially now that we have advertising packages to suit even the tightest of budgets. And what better way to show that we give value for money and a great advertising platform than the fact that over 90% of businesses renew their advertising with us. A big thank you from all of us here in sunny but chilly Lowestoft!

In the next couple of months we'll also be making some long overdue improvements to the website. These include:

These and other improvements have all come from suggestions made by our visitors and advertisers. So, if there's a feature you'd like to see on the Good Access Guide, let us know. We can't promise anything but we're pretty accommodating!

Exciting new project is ready to roll…
We are now ready to roll out a brand new training package called Equo.

This is an affordable yet extremely flexible online Disability Awareness Training course.

The course is designed to give a good, basic understanding of disability awareness and etiquette and is suited to small and large organisations alike. Organising traditional face-to-face training can prove expensive and difficult as you try to get everyone in one place at the same time. And for small businesses this type of training is prohibitively expensive.

Our training takes about an hour to complete - that's the tutorial and assessment together, meaning that you or your staff are not taken away from your busy schedule for longer than necessary.
It doesn't matter if your work suddenly needs your full attention. As soon as you log back into your secure training account you will be able to pick up exactly where you left off…

To find out more about how this training can benefit you, your business and your disabled customers, just click on over to the Equo website »

And as a subscriber of this newsletter, we would like to give you a special discount price of just £15+VAT per person. The price is normally £25+VAT per person, so you get to keep a tenner for each training account you buy!

Equo

What's in a name?
That piece about training leads me nicely into a few introductions…

We've changed our name to Equo Ltd - it's simple and easy to remember. Our previous name was Access Auditors Ltd. - a name that suggested we were, erm let's think, access auditors when, in fact, we weren't.

We'll still be trading under the names of Good Access Guide and GAG and adding Equo Online Training into the mix too.

Two new directors for Equo Ltd.
It was a great honour for both myself and Wendy Takman to be asked to be directors of the business.

Both of us jumped at the chance to guide the business into new markets while building on the existing Good Access Guide brand.

We are also adamant (not to be confused with Adam Ant - remember Prince Charming?) that we will continue to be nice people to do business with. Easy to say but not always as easy to stick to. But we've lost count of the times that people have commented on how much they've enjoyed their 'conversations' with Jo, Wendy or Donald. Because that's precisely what they are - conversations. We don't talk at you and we certainly don't start a conversation without introducing ourselves or by just saying "Hello, 'ow are you t'day!".

We even take 'No' for an answer!

It's hard to believe that anyone wouldn't want to advertise with us but if you say 'No' then we respect that. We'll just ask if we can call back later in the year for another chat and then we're gone... No hard sell, no Manager's special deals and no pulling of wool over eyes!

All a Twitter…
For all of you social networking fans, I thought you'd like to know that we have been known to Twitter occasionally.

This is a great way for us to tell you all the news from Good Access Guide and Equo in bite-size chunks.

If you've never ventured onto Twitter, now's your chance. To follow us just go to our page on the Twitter website.

And there's a blog too!
Yes, we've got a blog for you to read too... Just head over to www.goodaccessguide.co.uk/blog to see what we've been up to, our thoughts (fairly simple) and musings!

Disability News
There's more! We're now bringing you good quality disability-related news stories every week. To read what's in the news, pay a visit to our Disability News section.

And finally…
Well that's all for now... If there's anything we can help with (within reason), just give us a call on 01502 566005 or drop us a line to either ian@goodaccessguide.co.uk or wendy@goodaccessguide.co.uk

Warm regards,

Ian
