Good Access Guide - The online guide to life, leisure and mobility

e-newsletter: March 2006

Welcome to the Good Access Guide Newsletter

A word from...

Phew, the start of 2006 has been pretty hectic for the GAG team. New websites, new people and most importantly, new businesses on the Good Access Guide! We’ve also continued to increase visitor traffic by upwards of 20% per month, which we think is impressive. Investment in Google positioning, a great sales team and good old fashioned word of mouth being the main contributing factors.

Looking ahead, we will be adding two more sites to the Good Access Guide network within the next couple of months – Kidszone and an exciting holiday site, so watch out for those.

Enough from me (for this month) – we trust you enjoy our March newsletter.

UK Leisure TimeUK Leisure Time

This time of year is a busy one for renewals and we are delighted that the vast majority of advertisers are choosing to continue promoting their accommodations and leisure services on the Good Access Guide for a further 12 months. One of our larger holiday accommodation operators is Grooms Holidays who have placed all their properties on the Guide for another year. Joining the Guide for the first time are some superb holiday hotels, cottages and apartments in Scotland. Check out Derry Apartment on the stunning Mar Estate near Braemar, Auchrannie Hotel and Spa Resort for a spot of real indulgence on the Isle of Arran, The Park Hotel at Kilmarnock football ground (for footy fans, meetings and as a touring base) and the magnificent seven-bedroomed Rabbie Burns Lodge for a peaceful holiday in the Southern Uplands of South West Scotland.

Epic EnabledWorldwide Travel

Sister company to the Good Access Guide – Good Access UK has set up an international arm – Good Access International (what else!), as it seeks to expand it’s tourism access and disability consultancy services overseas. Current projects include what is probably the first property development in Europe, which has fully embraced the concept of ‘universal access’. We will be launching details of this exciting Costa Blanca development very soon.

Independent LivingIndependent Living

Exhibition season is all but upon us – NAIDEX, Mobility Roadshow, Mobility North and South, Independent Living and numerous smaller events up and down the country. All great events and well worth a visit if you can make them. In our own Independent Living showcase you will find a whole variety of products and services to help make life that much better. Newcomers to GAG who bring innovative and exciting new children’s products are Racketys. Check out a superb range of kids clothing and soft toys from a company that is providing gear that parents want to buy and young one’s want to wear!

MotoringMotoring

We are delighted with the look of our new Motoring site, which aims to provide an online showroom for those seeking o find or promote anything on three of four wheels (maybe even more if all terrain is your cookie). We will also feature ancillary services such as specialist motor insurance products, driving instructors and more.

DDA NewsDDA News

Despite the deadline of October 1st 2004 being well behind us now, many service providers are still failing to address their obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act. Much of this is due to lack of understanding of what these obligations actually and how to go about making the necessary ‘adjustments’. Good Access UK, GAG’s sister company exists to help organisations large and small recognise the benefits of ‘getting it right’ and importantly, delivers the solution they need. These include access audits, disability awareness training and provision of equipment and aids. And our webmasters – The Accessible Website Company are also there to help you get your website up to recognised accessibility standards. Visit their website for a free accessibility audit snapshot of your website. Finally we are showcasing a simple but effective deaf-alert system which is ideal for accommodation operators.
